Over onze klant

For our client, a company that provides commercial data, analytics, and insights for businesses, we are looking for a Legal Counsel based in Rotterdam office to liaise with the legal team based in France. The focus will be to provide legal services (mainly for the Sales & Purchase Department) to Belgium and the Netherlands.

Taken en verantwoordelijkheden

  • Partner with the Benelux sales team to assist in the project management of deals to conclusion, including advising on commercial deal structuring, negotiating and drafting contracts with customers and their procurement professionals and attorneys, business units based in the Benelux markets to negotiate and document contracts with licencors, distribution partners, and suppliers, and over time partner with other markets and business units as required by the Benelux Director;
  • Lead initiatives to enhance and improve standard contract forms and processes in the Benelux markets;
    Work with other internal parties (e.g. product management, product development, marketing, vendor management, data & operations, pricing, finance) to support business initiatives;
  • Provide general advice and support to procurement and where required negotiate and revise vendor contracts and terms;
  • Provide advice and support to the Benelux operations teams in connection with data purchasing, data quality management and complaints handling, including where required contract negotiation and drafting, and complaint / litigation advice and management;
  • Provide advice and support , including advising on processes, documentation, revenue recognition issues, claims and managing litigation where material issues are involved;
  • Provide business focused advice to Benelux market leaders on a variety of legal matters;
  • Liaise with colleagues in the legal team and / or the Benelux director and local outside counsel, for specialized and/or localized support as needed (e.g. data privacy and compliance, employment, complaints handling/litigation, M&A, tax, etc.);
  • Provide legal advice and support to senior management on any significant issues affecting the business and where required manage these through to resolution and act as liaison with business partners;
  • Keep the business abreast of legal and regulatory developments, in consultation with outside experts, in order that the leadership teams can react accordingly and coordinate actions;
  • Assist the legal director and where appropriate with the management of the company secretarial function for European companies.


  • Qualified solicitor/attorney/advocat (currently licensed practice law in Netherlands and/or Belgium) with 3 - 4 years Post Qualified Experience (PQE) with experience of negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts directly with customers, suppliers and other parties;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contract law, intellectual property licensing and commercial contracting concepts is essential;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English, spoken and written (fluency in French would be an advantage, but is not a requirement);
  • Knowledge of Dutch law essential (knowledge of Belgian law would be an advantage, but is not a requirement);
  • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence internal partners at all levels;
  • Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication, and problem solving skills essential;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Good computer skills (use of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) are essential.
